Depends for me really at how the story or chapter comes together as a write it out. It can take me just an hour or two to write out parts to connect the chapter together from scrap notes that I made as ideas came to me. Which can happen at any time when I let my mind wander.

Sometimes the ideas or corrections come went I'm working on something else.

The hard part is when I tie it all together, go back read it, correct it as I go, go back and maybe rewrite certain parts of the chapter that I think don't sound write....I mean right.
Proof read, try to double check any sources I used for the current story make sure its correct. Read it again...spell check...oevr...over again.

Leave it alone for awhile because my mind is tried at looking at it. Come back a few days to a couple of weeks later look at the chapter again, read it...again.

I'm my own worst critic when it comes to my work...just ask my associates at work.

And hopefully in just a few months..I might just post. Or maybe wait until next week.

Just like taking a hunk of raw hot steel and forge it until its a sharp double-edge sword. Hey, piece of cake!:)

Now if I can just get some feedback from my work.
